No matter who is president, we must free Louisiana!

Many Louisianans sighed a breath of relief when the candidate Louisiana voted for won the US presidency. Yet if 1% of the voters in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania had switched from Trump to Kamala Harris, the most radical, unqualified candidate in US history would have won. Isn’t that too close for comfort? What about four years from now?

Those states are a thousand miles away and Louisianans have no control over them. Why should they have control over us?

Every four years, we hold our breath to see who the swing states choose. This time, the only two options were someone from NYC and someone from San Francisco, but if Louisiana becomes independent, he will be a Louisianan each time. Someone who knows and cares about us and our needs. Someone whose future is intertwined in our future because his descendants are in the same boat (the same state) as us.

This is why Free Louisiana will continue to work for Louisiana independence no matter who is president, and we hope you invite your contacts to subscribe to our newsletter.

We’re proud that Louisianans are Speaker of the US House and Majority Leader of the House. They prove that Louisianans can handle the responsibilities of sovereign government. But their party only has 50.5% of the seats in the House, so it’s unlikely they’ll get much of what they want. Even worse, the next Senate Majority Leader cares more about the leadership class of Washington DC and Europe than about the rest of America.

Louisiana voters will soon be disappointed

As Louisiana voters become disappointed with the inability of newly-elected federal officials to reform and improve the federal government’s gridlock and dysfunction, Louisianans will see the need for our movement. It may be slow now, but we need to get bigger soon, so that we’ll have credibility as we prepare for the seasons when Louisianans are ready to jump on our bandwagon.

The Epoch Times asked us for a comment today. Here’s what we told them:

“We’re pleased that, since launching this summer, the Free Louisiana movement has already gained a champion in the state legislature. Louisiana did vote for Trump, and the majority party in both chambers in Congress, so most voters want to give them a chance to do something before embracing our movement.

However, the leadership of our movement fully expects Louisiana to be as disappointed in 2025 as they were in Trump’s first term by the resistance to reform in the federal bureaucracy, judiciary, and members of the uniparty establishment in Congress. We believe that the need for independence will be clear to Louisianans soon.

In the first 18 months of Trump’s first term, 70 of his initiatives or decisions were blocked by federal judges. Congress has passed laws over the years that leave very little discretion to the presidency on how the administrative state can be operated. The Republican advantage over the Democrats in the US House of Representatives will shrink by half when Congress is inaugurated next week.

Louisianans are different from Californians and New Yorkers, so it’s not surprising that a 2022 poll showed that exactly half of Louisianans, including many Democrats and independents, prefer that Louisiana be independent from them.”

No matter who is elected to Washington DC, Louisiana’s needs and values are barely recognized.

We wrote about this in July here.

The federal government has been taken over by a class of people who understand how to avoid accountability. The filibuster in the Senate will remain in place. A week ago, Congress passed a deplorable bill that keeps spending growing at the same rate, for the same priorities, as it has been since San Franciscan Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the House in 2022. For more reasons you should not expect a lot of improvement in the federal government, see this analysis by the Red-State Secession blog.
